  • Who runs this site?

I do, Christine Baker. I was a real estate and mortgage broker in California in the 90s, went camping after I sold my house in the Bay Area and ended up in the Mohave Desert in 2000.

I ran a large credit forum, researched FICO credit scoring and documented numerous bugs in the algorythms (first major step to destroy our civilization, the second is AI) and systemic discrimination against the disadvantaged (poor, old, sick, technologically challenged, etc.) I filed lawsuits, I got sued, and I learned so much.

Until 2016 I helped forum members and clients with improving FICO scores and correcting credit reports. I battled collectors and settled accounts. Consumer protection laws had been weakened and the big corporations with unlimited funds for lawyers litigated even the most solid claims because they could -- instead of agreeing to fair settlements.

The credit bureaus, creditors and collectors refused to comply with the law -- just like Sunnova. Misrepresentations and false promises. The regulators couldn't care less. Most legislators don't even understand the issues.

Credit reporting agencies refused to correct false information, verified and verified. Just like Sunnova solar system owners contact Sunnova for repairs, only to be ignored. Again and again. I couldn't charge my clients for work that was likely to yield NO results. So I quit.

One of my long time clients became a friend over the decades. In 2018 I helped her get four more solar panels at no charge through BBB mediation. Now I'm helping her again because Sunnova failed to repair the system and we discovered likely systemic fraud by Sunnova. We analyzed the credit they issued for underperformance and realized that Sunnova used lower guaranteed production figures than in the schedule attached to the contract.

    And here I am :)

  • What’s wrong with Sunnova?

So much is wrong with Sunnova, it takes a knowledge base to organize the information.

As discussed by the Ranking Members of the House Energy Committee, many customers have complained to regulators and the Houston BBB, which recently revoked Sunnova’s accreditation.

Shareholder class actions have been filed, I’ve seen claims of possible bankruptcy online and the outlook for solar is generally poor for a number of reasons.

The purpose of this knowledgebase is to:

    • list common allegations of misrepresentations by Sunnova or their agents’ sales reps, Sunova’s failure to monitor and maintain the systems, failure to promptly repair, using fraudulent Guaranteed Production Schedules when reimbursing for underproduction, etc.
    • explain how to document claims, where to find Sunnova documents and provide sample letters to Sunnova, regulators and legislators.
    • explain legal options and why mandatory arbitration clauses may not be enforcable in court. Post my legal research, the court rulings, articles, etc. (I’m not a lawyer and nothing I publish is legal advice)
    • discuss possible solutions other than Sunnova bankruptcy, such as a “monitor” to ensure that Sunnova complies with all aspects of the law and its contracts in a timely and professional manner.
    • I read that identical systems in Sweden cost much less than US systems. Huge profits are spread around door knockers, lead generators and multiple corporations and likely extreme incompetence. Solar systems should be purchased and installed locally. Consumers deserve options just like when they buy a car: New or used, cash or finance, purchase extended warranty or not, go to the mechanic of their choice as needed unless they have a system warranty. The entire US solar industry seems to be a giant SCAM.
